Flying start into new year with 10,000 shuttles on the market

KNAPP, the market pioneer for Shuttle Systems, has another reason to celebrate the new year: an order for the 10,000th shuttle for brand footwear manufacturer CLARKS US.

The almost 42,000 m2 logistics centre in Hanover, Pennsylvania (USA) will go into operation at the end of 2012. The OSR Shuttle System ensures the storage, goods-to-person picking and properly sequenced supply of 50 million pairs of shoes each year.

The new generation of OSR Shuttle is even more powerful, cost efficient and flexible, and now makes it possible to store containers and carton of various different dimensions without having to use additional trays. This means a significant reduction in costs for the entire system: no investment costs for trays and no more time-consuming repack processes within the warehouse.

The new generation of OSR Shuttles can store loads in different sizes up to four deep. Due to the possibility of two-deep storage for containers with a length of up to 800 mm, KNAPP has the Shuttle System with the highest storage density on the market. Another advantage is the extremely broad range of products: the new OSR Shuttle processes even very small products just as gently and reliably as products in XXL.

With the OSR Shuttle System as core technology, KNAPP combines the most important warehouse processes in one system. "A shuttle solution, in which a single system takes over storage, order picking, replenishment and dispatch sorting is a true trendsetter", says Joachim Erhard, Subsidiary Manager of KNAPP Germany. "KNAPP convinces as shuttle supplier not only due to the high-performance software, but also due to the more than ten years of experience in implementing shuttle solutions. With 80% of the market shares for Shuttle Systems worldwide and more than 150 reference customers already operating an OSR Shuttle, KNAPP really scores over the competition.

Thanks to the continuous further development, the KNAPP OSR Shuttle offers numerous additional advantages: besides highest availability and reliability, limits in size are now a thing of the past. OSR Shuttles with up to 30 metres in height and a system length of more than 100 metres are now by no means unusual. Right now, the world's largest Shuttle System is located at Hermes Fulfilment in Haldensleben, Germany. Despite the enormous dimensions of the OSR Shuttle, every single rack location in the system can be accessed safely and easily without additional tools or personal protective equipment.
