Dan Cargo purchases industry-tailored WMS from Consafe Logistics

The WMS solution will enable Dan Cargo to service its many different customers even better. The system will enable new services and provide new opportunities, increasing efficiency and quality while reducing costs.

Third-party logistics supplier (3PL) Dan Cargo has entered into an agreement with Consafe Logistics A/S on the implementation of an industry-tailored version of the warehouse management system, Astro WMS, to meet the special needs of 3PL customers. The system will keep track of Dan Cargo’s many different customers’ goods effectively and intelligently.

Astro WMS will enable Dan Cargo to further optimise each customer’s warehouse management. It is not as simple as it might sound, since there is a big difference between a customer that only handles full pallets and a customer that requires advanced picking to and from many different loading units, such as full pallets, half pallets, boxes, cartons, etc.

The system also supports invoicing of customers based on each customer’s agreement, as well as the handling and services delivered by Dan Cargo. This gives Dan Cargo significant savings in the administration of invoicing of services to individual customers.

The system also features:

• A KPI module (key performance indicators, target management system) that presents agreed KPIs for warehouse operation, so the customer always has insight into quality.
• A customer portal where customers can place orders and track orders, invoicing and KPIs.

The partners expect to implement the system at Dan Cargo’s Norwegian and Swedish logistics centres in November 2012, followed by implementation at Dan Cargo’s logistics centre in Taulov, Denmark.
