Results from Current Validation Round Now Available Online

21.08.2013

After the questionnaire used to validate the systems participating in the WMS Database was extensively updated and revised, the results from the current validation round have now been made available for viewing by WMS users. The online search functionality of WMS Online Selection has been using the new and updated functional aspects from the questionnaire since 1 August 2013 to ensure that those looking for a WMS had access to the latest results during the WMS selection process.

The WMS Database has been synonymous with a fast and uncomplicated search for a suitable WMS vendor on warehouse-logistics.com for 13 years now. The high volume of information that is exchanged between the WMS vendors and WMS users makes it possible for the right selection to be made and for the missing piece in the customer’s requirements to be found. It serves as a marketing platform for WMS vendors: a transparent way to provide interested parties with information about the performance and functionality of their systems. WMS users can use the platform to learn about many different systems and they can use WMS Online Selection and more than 3 000 search criteria to find the right WMS for their company.

The validation of the systems listed in the database is performed based on the answers provided by the vendors to approximately 3 000 criteria. At the beginning of the year, more than 700 aspects were updated and expanded. For example, the entire topic of internationalization was updated and overhauled: it will now be possible to analyse more precisely the activities of a WMS vendor in each language. These activities include the operation of a branch, sales activities, project planning including detailed specifications, implementation, training, and after sales service with maintenance and support. The update to the questionnaire also included a new question category that determines the ability of a WMS vendor to support production and assembly environments. This includes the picking and staging of material for production, special replenishment functionality, and space for production and assembly workplaces. The section on the picking of promotional merchandise was updated, the questions on slotting functionality were expanded, and other general improvements were made, especially in the English language version.
