Guidance in a complex market

Warehouse logistics brings together vendors and users of logistics IT in a targeted manner. Our aim is to provide guidance in a complex market and enable well-founded decisions when selecting logistics IT systems.

As part of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML, we combine applied research with practical market knowledge. Developments from intralogistics and IT planning flow directly into our platform, methods and consulting. This creates solutions that are well-founded, neutral and practice-oriented.

Our platform has supported companies for over 25 years in finding suitable logistics IT systems for their individual requirements and comparing the market transparently.

Logistics IT Consulting

We support companies in the selection, implementation and further development of logistics IT systems, combining methodological expertise with practical market experience.

Applied Research

As part of the Fraunhofer IML, we transfer insights from applied research directly into industry — for example in areas such as cognitive ergonomics, software ergonomics and user-centred design of logistics IT.

The team at LogiMAT 2025

The "Team warehouse logistics" is an interdisciplinary team of computer scientists, engineers and logistics experts based at the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics IML. As part of the Intralogistics and IT Planning department, we are at the forefront of logistics developments driven by applied research at IML.

Our mission is to precisely match logistics IT vendors with logistics IT users, and we are characterized by interdisciplinary expertise and methodological competence (including intralogistics planning, lean warehousing) that we apply to logistics IT topics.

Beirat warehouse logistics

Zur nachhaltigen Förderung des Portals wurde im März 2009 der »warehouse logistics« Beirat gegründet. Das beratende Gremium unterstützt durch umfassende Kenntnisse aus dem Logistik IT-Bereich die Weiterentwicklung der Plattform und stärkt die Community.

Aufbau & Organisation

  • Maximal zehn Mitglieder, Amtszeit bis zu drei Jahre
  • Zusammensetzung nach Teilnehmerstruktur der Logistik IT-Datenbank
  • Ein bis zwei Sitzungen pro Jahr (Frühjahr und Spätsommer/Herbst)

Our history

25 years of logistics IT expertise

2000

Foundation

The "Team warehouse logistics" was founded with the goal of matching customers and vendors of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) based on requirements and supporting them in the WMS selection and implementation process.

2002

First participant meeting

Since 2002, the »warehouse logistics« community has come together once a year at the Fraunhofer IML. Talks from research and practice and the open exchange provide impulses for the further development of systems and corporate strategies.

2009

Founding of the »warehouse logistics« advisory board

The board serves an advisory function. Through comprehensive knowledge and experience in the logistics IT field, it supports and promotes the future development of the portal.

2010

Certification according to DIN ISO 9001

Since then, the assessment and validation process has been carried out in a procedure certified to DIN EN ISO 9001. The »warehouse logistics« team continuously reviews the vendor information against transparent, objective criteria.

2015

Development of VDI Guideline 3601

2022

Expansion to include the RPS and TMS system groups

With the addition of TMS and RPS, the original »WMS Database« becomes the cross-system »Logistik IT Datenbank« — a holistic information platform for companies about software in logistics.

2026

New MES system group

A Manufacturing Execution System controls, monitors and optimizes manufacturing processes in real time and links production planning directly with production. With MES, the »Logistik IT Datenbank« now covers the systems at the interface to production.

2026

New Website Launch

With a completely redesigned, modern web presence, warehouse-logistics.com presents itself in a new design — faster, clearer and user-centered.
