MECSPE 2026: Vertical Innovation Takes Center Stage at the Modula Stand
09.03.2026
Another dynamic edition of MECSPE has just come to a close. Now in its 24th year, the leading Italian trade fair for the manufacturing industry continues to support and showcase the sector’s technological evolution. Once again, across 13 halls dedicated to innovation and digitalization, our stand stood out for its design, solutions, size, and strong visitor turnout.
Our vision at the show was clear: to raise the bar of vertical storage management even higher. The positive response from visitors confirmed that we are heading in the right direction.
Modula Long Goods: When VLM Meets Long Materials
The star of this year’s edition was Modula Long Goods, the Vertical Lift Module with trays designed for storing long materials up to 7 meters in length: aluminum and PVC bars, profiles and extrusions, tubes, rails, and similar items.
Built on the proven experience of Modula Lift, it inherits the »goods-to-person« principle, modular architecture, and high standards of safety and efficiency—while expanding its range of applications. Because when lengths increase and handling becomes more complex, ergonomics, safety, and automation become essential.
With a storage capacity of up to 7 meters in width and up to 900 kg per tray, Modula Long Goods allows you to:
- Recover valuable floor space by utilizing vertical height
- Reduce manual handling and operational risks
- Ensure order, traceability, and material protection
- Speed up picking and storage operations, even with external handling aids
- Integrate storage with handling systems such as overhead cranes, forklifts, manipulators, weight balancers, and cutting or production lines
Available in two versions, differentiated by tray depth, the system can be configured with internal dividers to create dedicated storage spaces or to combine bars and other components within the same tray. The result? Structured, organized, and fully controlled management—even for non-standard loads.
A New Touch Experience with COPILOT
Another key highlight accompanying Modula Long Goods at MECSPE was the new Copilot, an HMI interface redesigned to offer an even more intuitive, user-friendly, and immediate experience. The design has been refreshed both aesthetically and in terms of User Experience, with a more modern layout and a clearer information structure.
The device can now rotate to better adapt to different operational needs and lights up in different colors depending on the machine’s status, providing immediate visual support to the operator. The icons have also been updated with a refreshed and more coherent design aligned with the new interface—while maintaining the same reliable operating system as always.
Alongside the new solutions, Modula Flexibox and Modula Lift continued to play a leading role. At the trade show, both systems operated in sync within the same WMS environment and under centralized management. In addition, machine operations were displayed on Smart Display, a dedicated picking monitor designed to guide operators in a streamlined and practical way.
Next to the operating Modula systems was an enhanced Put to Light solution integrating Pick to Color and the standard Picking Cart.
Pick to Color, introduced with version 3.10.22 of Modula WMS, is an innovative feature that simplifies and improves order management on picking carts. Thanks to an intuitive color-coded system, it reduces operational time, minimizes errors, and optimizes the entire order preparation process.
The Picking Cart presented at MECSPE also featured updated displays, offering an even clearer and more effective operational experience. Everything is managed through WMS Premium and monitored in real time via Smart Display, both on Lift and Flexibox.
This edition of MECSPE closes with many interactions, new connections, and one certainty: vertical storage management continues to evolve—and we are ready to lead the change.
Didn’t have the chance to visit us at the trade show? No problem. We have scheduled a series of in-house events every month at our headquarters in Fiorano Modenese, where we will continue to showcase innovation and solutions live.
