Tibbett & Britten and Manhattan Associates Partner to Optimise Supply Chain Execution at Rubbermaid Europe

25.03.2003

PkMS®, the Execution Engine behind Manhattan Associates' x-SCE platform, and the Logistics Services Expertise of Tibbett & Britten Combine to Run Rubbermaid Europe's Brunssum Distribution Facility in the Netherlands

UTRECHT - March 19, 2003 – Rubbermaid Europe, a division of Rubbermaid Inc. (NYSE: NWL) and a specialist in kitchenware and household durables, today announced a successful warehouse management system 'go-live' at its distribution centre (DC) in Brunssum, Netherlands. The implementation was a joint project between Tibbett & Britten Group (LSE: TBG), one of the world’s leading logistics services providers, and Manhattan Associates Inc., (Nasdaq: MANH), the global leader in providing extended supply chain execution (x-SCE) solutions.
Rubbermaid Europe's products are distributed from the 40,000m2 facility in Brunssum to retail and wholesale customers throughout the Benelux region as well as to various export markets around the world. The objective of the implementation was to optimise the operational performance of the distribution centre and subsequently to improve overall service levels provided to Rubbermaid Europe's clients. The implementation project, which involved the replacement of Rubbermaid Europe's existing warehouse system with a best-of-breed supply chain execution platform, follows successful deployments of Manhattan Associates' x-SCE solutions at other Tibbett & Britten-managed facilities throughout France, the Netherlands and the UK.

During 2002, Rubbermaid Europe made the strategic decision to invest in a new enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and at the same time decided that a complementary best-of-breed supply chain execution platform would provide it with the most appropriate technology solution for supporting its fulfilment operation. Manhattan Associates' PkMS solution was selected as the preferred SCE platform for several reasons. Firstly, it was already running successfully in other Tibbett & Britten-run DCs across Europe. The solution also has pre-built interfaces to Rubbermaid Europe's preferred ERP system, Movex from Intentia, and finally it provided the functionality and scalability that would enable Tibbett & Britten to meet Rubbermaid Europe's demanding supply chain requirements.
Erwin Tiemens, Financial Director at Tibbett & Britten Benelux, commented, "Manhattan Associates' clear understanding of our client’s and our own business objectives was a critical factor in our decision to select Manhattan Associates. The fact that they clearly understood the dynamics of the logistics services industry in the Benelux also played a major role in this process. Their people's knowledge, focus and experience, combined with a best-of-breed solution that is robust, flexible and scalable made Manhattan Associates our number one choice. As our business grows, PkMS will grow with us, extending our capabilities and allowing us to process higher inventory levels as well as refine picking accuracy and labour productivity, while decreasing operational costs." On the deployment itself, Tiemens added, "We've had a smooth implementation of PkMS with no disruption in the service we provide to Rubbermaid Europe. The enthusiasm of our workers and the ease with which they learned to work with PkMS were major contributors to the project's success."
"A close working relationship among Rubbermaid Europe, Tibbett & Britten and Manhattan Associates has contributed significantly to the success of the project and this has been made possible through the successful investments that Manhattan Associates has made in the Benelux region over the last year," said Allen Scott, Vice President of European Operations at Manhattan Associates. "Tibbett & Britten's continued investment in PkMS as a strategic tool to support their clients' supply chain execution needs throughout Europe is testament to the confidence they have in Manhattan Associates' firm commitment to the European logistics services industry."
