Faster picking and greater transparency across the supply chain

27.03.2013

AMADA GmbH – the German subsidiary of a leading global manufacturer of machines, tools, and equipment for sheet metal fabrication – now manages its entire supply chain with the ASSIST4 software suite from AEB.

This has increased picking capacity by four to six percent, and AMADA now provides even better service to its customers through proactive supply chain management. ASSIST4 also helps calculate freight costs. Electronic transmission of automatically calculated freight costs saves each employee about 20 minutes a day – a tremendous time gain over the course of the year, says logistics director Sabine Mertens.

Round-the-clock access to shipment status

The deployment of the Visibility & Collaboration Platform has been a particular boon to AMADA’s sales, service, and logistics departments. Now they have direct access to the information they need and no longer have the burden of requesting the shipping status or checking the websites of the transport service providers. Customers who have earned partner status or have special service agreements will soon also enjoy access to the online platform, where they can check the status of a shipment themselves.

Hosted in the AEB data center

A conscious decision was made to have the software installed in the AEB data center. IT director Andreas Tänzer confirms that speed is not a problem with the data center solution, with delivery note data transmitted in a minute or less. What’s more, AEB’s in-house IT department already has all the necessary expertise, eliminating the need to duplicate this knowledge base at AMADA.
