Exploring New Horizons with warehouse logistics

With the slogan »Exploring new horizons with warehouse logistics« the participants of warehouse-logistics.com, one of the leading platforms for Warehouse-Management-Systems (WMS) met on October 27th 2016 for the 16th time for the participants meeting at Fraunhofer IML in Dortmund. More than 60 company representatives of national and international WMS vendors took the opportunity to discuss about current trends.

Detlef Spee, head of the department Intralogistics and -IT-planning at Fraunhofer IML in Dortmund formed with his keynote speech the starting point for the further program. He focused primarily on the relevance of German logistics research and development of software and systems. Afterwards, Björn Krämer, head of Team warehouse logistics took the helm and presented his lecture »Exploring New Horizons with warehouse logistics«. He focused especially on the basic developments of the WMS database in the recent year. Furthermore, he gave the attendees a basic impression of the customer satisfaction analysis 2016 and informed them about the upcoming projects such as the publication of new whitepapers on issues like »When and Why Do You Need a WMS« and »Structuring and Implementation of Software Tests«.

Afterwards the »World Café« offered the participants the chance to discuss in small groups about current logistical topics as »Approaches of Gamification and Serious Gaming in WMS« and »Cognitive Ergonomics - How Information Systems support the Employee«. At the same time they also had the chance to exchange about various other contents.

In addition, Hauke Pahl, the logistics manager of the BVB Merchandising GmbH continued with his lecture »Merchandising in the German Football League – Developments in Trading Fan Articles«. Through his presentation he provided an insight in the basic process of the »BVB-delivery-app«, which was jointly developed by experts of Fraunhofer IML and BVB Merchandising GmbH. Furthermore, the Fraunhofer IML presented first results of the WMS market report 2016, which will be published as a whitepaper at the end of the year.

»One more time, we are delighted that the participants meeting has become an integral part of the WMS Community. The participants are enjoying the possibility of exchanging information and discussing jointly about future topics und developments in the WMS market.« Björn Krämer sums up in the end of the meeting.
