Optimized Logistics Network: Emmi Achieves Cross-site Warehouse and Network Control with inconso Solutions

05.07.2017

The largest Swiss milk processor uses inconsoSCE, inconsoWMS X and inconsoLSA at 22 sites

In order to keep an eye on all stocks in the widely ramified logistics network, the largest Swiss milk processor relies on a uniform system landscape for cross-site network and warehouse control. The concept that was designed for distribution logistics has been in use since the beginning of 2017. At 22 sites, including the largest production plant in Ostermundigen near Bern, Emmi relies on system solutions from the logistics software specialist inconso.

This became vital mainly due to the implementation of SAP as the new ERP system in Switzerland as well as the continual internationalization strategy of the Emmi Group that sells a full range of cheeses, dairy and fresh products in 60 countries worldwide. Nearly all sites that ship goods have reported faster response times, optimized resource usage and shorter processing times due to the warehouse management system inconsoWMS eXtended (aka inconsoWMS X). Harmonious warehouse logistics processes from order acceptance to goods issue contribute to sustainable efficiency increases and quality assurance in the warehouse management environment. In addition, inconsoLSA (Logistics Service Accounting) quantitatively records and analyzes logistics services, which can also be made available for internal or external customer invoicing.

The national logistics network is managed using the supply chain execution system inconsoSCE as the system and process level, which is located between the ERP systems and the warehouse levels. As the logistics control element, the solution ensures the comprehensive view of stocks at the sites and during transit and thus enables exact status tracking within the entire distribution network.

»Emmi in Switzerland strives to optimize distribution logistics with the integration of modern logistics systems. It is also an opportunity for the organizational unit logistics Switzerland to reposition itself in its newly defined role as a logistics service provider,« emphasizes Max Peter, Director Trade & SCM at Emmi.
