Complete revision of the questionnaire to validate the »WMS Reference Projects«

05.10.2018

Since 2012, the »Team warehouse logistics« of the Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) has been offering participants of the WMS database the opportunity to publish their »WMS Reference Projects« on warehouse-logistics.com. At the same time, WMS customers can use the references to get a precise picture of the project-related experiences of WMS providers.

Before a reference is published, it is validated by the independent »Team warehouse logistics« using a questionnaire comprising around 500 aspects. This questionnaire has now been completely revised to further strengthen the significance of the »WMS Reference Projects«.

For the first time since the introduction of the »WMS Reference Projects« service in 2012, the questionnaire for validating the participants' reference projects has been completely revised. Both, current market developments and trends as well as valuable input from the »WMS Advisory Board« were taken into account for the revision. In addition, a stronger reference to VDI 3601 increases the significance of the »WMS Reference Projects«.

In order to make the questionnaire more compact, the total number of aspects was reduced from 506 to 477 in the course of the questionnaire revision. In terms of content, however, more than 40 percent of the aspects have been revised. The topic areas »Environment« and »Processes« received the most innovations and updates. For projects, which are already published, there is the possibility to have them revalidated if required. The revision by the »Team warehouse logistics« ensures that the platform also remains up to date in the area of »WMS Reference Projects« for WMS providers and WMS customers.

In addition, the »Team warehouse logistics« can announce a further innovation in the area of »WMS Reference Projects«. In the future, the validation signets will be available in different versions. Depending on the number of »WMS Reference Projects« published on www.warehouse-logistics.com, the »Team warehouse logistics« awards the validation signet in gold, silver and bronze versions.

The »WMS database« on warehouse-logistics.com is one of the world's leading platforms for the functional comparison of Warehouse Management Systems. WMS providers have the possibility to present their products within the database and have them validated by the manufacturer-independent »Team warehouse logistics«. After successful validation, the system receives the validation signet, a quality seal of the industry. WMS customers can use the »WMS Online Selection« to quickly find out which system best suits their warehouse or requirements by means of a comprehensive search criteria catalogue. Similarly, interested visitors can find information on more than 100 validated »WMS Reference Projects« on the platform.
