Investment in the future: V-Markt implements WAMAS logistics software from SSI Schaefer

08.03.2024

The WAMAS warehouse management system from the intralogistics specialist SSI Schaefer will be used to efficiently manage V-Markt's wide range of products in the future. The new WMS solution not only meets current requirements, but also represents a forward-looking investment. The order was placed at the end of 2023, with a planned project start in March 2024 and a planned project acceptance in the first quarter of 2025.

Georg Jos. Kaes GmbH is a 6th generation family-run retail company that has played an important role in the southern German retail landscape for over 159 years. With the brands V-Markt, V-Baumarkt, Christl's Modemarkt, C&C and 1865 Outdoor Equipment, the company is represented at almost 60 locations and is regarded as the last medium-sized trading company from the region.

Georg Jos. Kaes GmbH has decided to implement the WAMAS Warehouse Management System (WMS), including the required IT hardware from SSI Schaefer, in order to efficiently manage the diversity of its product ranges, from frozen, dairy and fresh products to shoes and textiles to DIY and garden center products. SSI Schaefer acts as a reliable partner for the introduction and ongoing operation of the new system in the central warehouse and supports the approximately 200 logistics employees in ensuring the smooth flow of the diverse orders on a permanent basis.

WAMAS meets all requirements for adaptable warehouse management software, suitable for both manual and automated warehouse locations, without requiring additional programming. A flexible and agile approach has been defined to allow the business to scale. This flexibility is crucial to enable sustainable growth for the customer - both in terms of employees, locations and functional scope.

Following the initial contact between Georg Jos. Kaes GmbH and SSI Schaefer at LogiMAT, an international trade fair for intralogistics solutions and process management in Germany, in 2023, it quickly became clear that discussions would intensify. A comprehensive offer was developed that covered all necessary aspects and satisfied the customer in every respect. This included the analysis and planning phase, the implementation of the WAMAS WMS software, the adaptation and conversion to the new system and the delivery of the server components. The WAMAS WMS software and the IT components supplied will be fully supported and updated by the SSI Schaefer Customer Service Team.
