Raben migrated smoothly to MLS version 6.3

Raben Logistics has started in March 2008 the migration from MLS version 5 to version 6.3 in the warehouses of Raben Logistics and Fresh Logistics in Poland, the Baltic States and the Ukraine.
Two parallel implementation teams have been formed in order to realize the migration; the two teams have prepared and implemented the roll-outs at the same pace. Raben decided to migrate, firstly because MLS version 6 offers functionalities which facilitate existing and future clients more efficiently and secondly because the use of version 6 offers possibilities to expand the business. The completion of the total migration has been set for March 2009.
The concept of two parallel implementation teams appears to be effective. Since March 2008 6 implementations have been prepared and effected. In 2006 and 2007 a part of the Gądki warehouse near Poznan (with clients in the oil products and food industry) and the whole warehouse in Chorzów (with clients in the food industry) had already been migrated; in March of this year the warehouse of a world player in cosmetics has been migrated to version 6. This was not only a migration but also a removal of the integral stock to a new warehouse, specially for built for this client. A new, larger warehouse was necessary since Raben has started the distribution for this client to the Czech Republic, the Slovak Republic and Hungary. Next to this 2 other clients in Gądki have been migrated to version 6.
In May and June the largest part of Grodzisk Mazowiecki near Warschau has been migrated to the new version in 3 phases. The most important clients are manufacturers of kitchen and cooking furniture, of spices and of cosmetics. In Grodzisk the control of the picked products is crucial for two reasons: a number of clients has theft susceptible products of high value and other clients have products with very similar packaging. Especially for this last category a Checking&Packing-module has been added to the RF-functionality. With this module, by means of scanning, the picking can be controlled of being correctly and completely.
Next to the RF-module for the cosmetics articles, packing tables are used where the picked articles are scanned. The goods are packed in boxes while the exact contents of the box are recorded.
During the migration of the Grodzisk, the warehouse of Fresh Logistics in Gądki has also been migrated to version 6. For the concerned clients out of the food industry a high standard of storage life is required because some products are perishable. This implementation has also been effected without any problems.
For the next months Raben Stryków and Fresh Logistics in Gliwice have been planned. The last operation of this year will be the migration of the large customers of the food industry in Gądki, so that in the beginning of next year Raben Ukraine and Raben Baltics will work with the newest version of MLS.
