Bahlsen relies on KiSoft WMS from KNAPP

Bahlsen, the market leader for pastries in Germany, is relying on KNAPP for the modernization and optimization of their distribution centres.

KNAPP a worldwide leading provider of logistics technology, will replace the existing system and control all processes with KiSoft WMS in the distribution centres in Langenhagen (Germany) and Barsinghausen (Germany) by the end of 2009.

For years new ideas and innovative product concepts have been a trademark of Bahlsen – from the invention of the “Leibniz Butterkeks” (butter biscuit) in the year 1891 till today with the delicious Leibniz Choco Sticks or Leibniz “Erdnuss Spaß” (peanut fun). BAHLSEN produces in five European locations and exports its wares to more than 80 countries.

“In the selection process it was important to us that our future system partner could cover our requirements for the most parts with a standard program, requiring as little individual programming as possible and that the material flow control, warehouse management, SAP connection and PLC can be covered” said Peter Hantke, leader of logistics at Bahlsen. “KNAPP has convinced us with the numerous and well-known WMS references in the food and commercial logistics as well as with the software solutions geared for the future. With KNAPP we can not only optimize all our existing processes in the distribution centres, but also be well prepared for current trends.”

Gerald Lassau, Managing Director of KNAPP Information Management, is glad. “Today over 4,000 users worldwide are already profiting from KNAPP software solutions. With Bahlsen, we have won ourselves a customer who is not only known by all, but is also one where we can prove our competence in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and warehouse control. We will not only optimally solve the complex material flow control (multiple driving stages with a capacity for 12 pallets at once) but the customer will also profit from our extensive logistics services functionalities (e.g.: cross docking, customer specific height adjustment, packaging and assembly).”

KNAPP develops Best-of-Class Software solutions in logistics with over 400 software engineers, and offers optimal service for its customers with 1,500 employees worldwide. Through years of experience in logistics in combination with innovative software architecture, with the KiSoft Warehouse Management System including Pick-by-Voice, the customer profits from proven Best-Practice processes (over 4,000 users in 16 countries) and short implementation times, thanks to the extensive and simply configured standard functions (1,000+ features).
