Siemens wins large order from MAN Ferrostaal for outsourcing of IT infrastructure

With immediate effect, Siemens IT Solutions and Services will be taking over large parts of the IT infrastructure for MAN Ferrostaal AG in Essen. The outsourcing contract will run for five years and is worth around 19 million euros. Through this outsourcing, MAN Ferrostaal is aiming to continuously enhance the quality of its operations and develop potential for process improvements. As an international provider of industrial services, Man Ferrostaal is also seeking more flexibility in its IT structure in order to cope with future market developments.

Under the contract, Siemens IT Solutions and Services will provide the entire desktop services for 2,000 users worldwide. An on-site service at over 20 sites and a 24-hour telephone helpdesk support the staff at MAN Ferrostaal in the event of technical problems.

Siemens IT Solutions and Services is also providing complete voice & LAN services and the entire data center operation for MAN Ferrostaal.

A large portion of the services will be delivered by Siemens IT-Dienstleistung und Beratung, a Siemens subsidiary based in Gelsenkirchen.
