KiSoft WMS by KNAPP at food wholesaler LUPUS-famila

11.11.2009

Startup of KiSoft WMS for the LUPUS-famila group (hypermarkets, cash & carry, and wholesale customer service in southwest Germany) in the newly constructed logistics centre in Pforzheim was successfully completed to the full satisfaction of the customer.

LUPUS customers will profit by an even better delivery service, optimal freshness, as well as outstanding quality and traceability.

The Warehouse-Management-System by KNAPP was very quickly up and running at the LUPUS-famila modern logistics location in Pforzheim. Around 25,000 items are managed and up to 20,000 order lines are picked per day in the central warehouse, which operates on a three shift model. The distribution centre was set up for the supply of up to 25,000 customers. LUPUS-famila profits through KiSoft WMS from stock management with precision storage, which ensures sufficient stock and more efficient picking.

Aside from small and large quantity picking, KiSoft WMS also supports split case picking, with which the LUPUS-familia offers a special customer service. The online picking area is controlled by the 35 terminals with the electronic picking list (KiSoft EPL). KiSoft EPL increases productivity by displaying several positions at the same time. The error rate is decreased by the use of check digits and electronic data capture. Since the terminal is directly attached to the picking vehicle, the picker's hands are free. The online connection enables KiSoft WMS to continually monitor the process, which in turn allows immediate intervention and automatic process optimisation in the event of deviations in material flow. The greatest flexibility with the greatest assurance of stock can therefore be achieved. KiSoft WMS has integrated standard interfaces through which connection to the fleet management system (CosWare) can be promptly realized.

The history of the LUPUS-famila goes all the way back to the year 1904. The company rose up from a colonial produce store in Pforzheim and in addition to 12 department stores, has supplied large scale consumers now since 1935. Today the LUPUS-famila is a successful medium sized family owned and operated company, steadily developing, and at all times keeping products as well as logistics at a most up to date level. Famila Rhein-Neckar offers in Baden-Württemberg and in Rheinland-Pfalz a regionally characterized and comprehensive range of goods of the highest quality and freshness at attractive prices.

The KNAPP Group, with 26 sales and service offices around the world and approx. 1,700 employees worldwide, develops best-of-class software solutions in the logistics area with more than 400 software engineers. Through the many years of experience combined with innovative software architecture, with the KiSoft Warehouse Management System including Pick-by-Voice, the customers profit from proven best-practice processes (more than 6,000 users in 20 countries) and short implementation times, thanks to the extensive and easily configured standard functions (more than 1,100 features).
