Norwegian Electrical Equipment Wholesaler Chooses MA-system

Berggård Amundsen & Co, a market leading electrical equipment wholesaler in Norway, is launching a new central warehouse and has chosen MA-system’s Astro WMS Standard to streamline its logistical processes and cut costs

Berggård Amundsen & Co AS is a Norwegian electrical equipment wholesaler with a strong position on the Norwegian market. The company’s clients are electricians, industrial firms and power stations. The company is choosing MA-system and the Astro warehouse management system because of its superior ability to support the company in its logistical processes.

The central warehouse in Ski, Oslo, which opens in April 2003, will help Berggård Amundsen & Co improve the total logistical flow in its operations. By implementing Astro WMS Standard, the company gains the ability to control all its warehousing processes in detail.

”The aim was to find a model for the flow of goods which would lower our total logistics cost by 8-10% without lowering the service level,” says Terje Østrem Karlsen, Director of Logistics at Berggård Amundsen & Co. ”Our estimates show that the total costs of logistics amount to about 62 million NOK, and establishing a new central warehouse was the best solution. In connection with this, we were looking for a new WMS to support our logistical process in the way we need.”

Berggård Amundsen & Co is choosing Astro for a variety of reasons, but the decisive point was its integration with their existing business systems as well as excellent references from existing clients. They also stress the fact that MA-system has performed a model of an implementation of the system.

Astro WMS Standard is a cost-effective warehouse management system. The system’s pre-defined processes enable small and medium-sized companies to quickly increase their productivity and lower warehousing costs without any major adaptations of the system.

”Astro WMS Standard can be integrated with most business systems with a short time of implementation, says Robert Jansson, Vice President of MA-system AB. We are very happy that Berggård Amundsen & Co have chosen to run our warehouse management system at their new central warehouse, and we are convinced that the efficiency of their logistical flow will increase immediately.”

Berggård Amundsen & Co has as its aim to increase the level of service, but also to reduce purchasing costs. 100% of all goods will now be handled at the new central warehouse, which supplies a large number of district warehouses around Norway.
