DC Director - Dematic Introduces Expanded Warehouse Management System

With an expanded function range for the proven warehouse management system "DC Director" Dematic developed the most economical solution for modern storage and distribution centres.
Dematic increased the function range of their proven warehouse management systems (WMS) "DC Director" and optimised the user interface of their IT-system. Thus, Dematic-WMS provides a powerful and comfortable IT-basis for the control and optimisation of all operative processes in modern storage and distribution centres. "Logistics software was always part of the Dematic solution concept of integrated, turnkey storage and logistics solutions", explains Peter Golz, Manager Software Development at Dematic. "With the expanded function range of our WMS DC Director we provide our customers with an IT-system, which already in the standard modules covers the performance features required in today's markets and is optimally suited for the control of diverse Dematic-systems. Additionally, the functions of the multi-client-capable system can through parametrisation be comfortably customised for client-specific requirements. Thus, we achieve with the DC Director the most economical solution for each warehouse."
The range covers the requirements of semi-automatic storage facilities up to the control of complex processes in highly automated warehouses. In the DC Director not only the physically present warehouse organisation and the processes between incoming and outgoing goods are comfortably displayed due to the revised user interface. But the WMS also offers the option of applying the available resources in flexibly configured strategies. The proven implementations of the DC Director focus on seamless integration - into present IT-infrastructures and as well with work equipment and systems. Flexible interfaces to the most common ERP-systems as well as a SAP-certified host interface ensure continuous and transparent business processes. The orientation to diverse user interfaces offers in addition a clean integration, coordination and control of sub-systems such as weighing machines, identification technology, conveyor technology, storage and retrieval machines or complete dynamic order-picking warehouses.
The logistic functions of the DC Director covers the complete warehouse management, order-picking and transport processes, the control of material flows and material flow systems, as well as tracking and tracing.
The basis for this is the modular designed and component-based software architecture, as well as the use of proven operating systems, databases and application servers based on up-to-date Java EE technology. Redundancy strategies ensure the high availability of the system.
In addition to all this the DC Director highlights the advantages arising out of cooperation with the complete supplier range of Dematic. For example, the standard software is already designed with the Dematic Multi-Shuttle system in mind and also with strategies for optimal customer-oriented sequence formations, best combinations for doubles of storing and retrieving goods or the choice of optimal working level. Result: short implementation times, quick system operations, reduced development costs, no interface conflicts.
