More performance without more work

Multi-stage modernization

viastore is currently modernizing Balluff's automatic mini-load store in Neuhausen near Stuttgart, installed eleven years ago. This will enable the supplier of sensor equipment to significantly increase the efficiency of its logistics. This has become necessary as the range of products has expanded considerably since 2005 as a result of company acquisitions. For this reason, Balluff and viastore held a workshop at that time. This resulted in a multistage modernization plan.

In the first step, the system conveyor equipment including controls and material flow system were extended in 2006. In 2008, the capacity of the mini-load store was increased by three aisles. As part of this operation, the old material flow system was replaced by the viad@tMFC software in all areas, and the conveyor equipment including controls was again extended.

In a further workshop for determining location and for further planning, the experts from Balluff and viastore established that the availability of the storage/retrieval machines (SRM) and the conveyors from the year 2000 had significantly declined. The four S/R machines were therefore replaced in the third stage and and the conveyor control systems in the remaining parts of the plant were also brought up to date in the third stage. The objective is to significantly increase the performance of the system to enable Balluff to cope with its forecast increase in business without additional shifts.
