Team »warehouse logistics« develops WMS Index

07.05.2012

The Fraunhofer Institute for Material Flow and Logistics’s (IML) Team warehouse logistics and Warehouse Logistics Advisory Committee worked together to develop »WMS Index«:

an innovative tool that makes it easier and faster to analyse the current mood and business developments in the WMS market. It provides the participants of the WMS Database with exclusive access through warehouse-logistics.com to up-to-date information about the developments in the increasingly complex WMS market.

WMS Index is used to anonymously capture the extensive information that is collected through the platform about the structural and economic development in the WMS market for the purpose of analysing it for sales information. The only requirement to make this possible is that the WMS vendors participating in the database have to enter the relevant data into the database’s content management system on a regular basis. This information includes general data related to the entire month– for example, the number and volume of current orders–as well as specific data for concrete orders and projects such as the type of project, participating sectors, type of installations, and so on.

All of the entered data is anonymously captured and can be analysed for a completed month. Participants will benefit from being able to recognize trends and moods in the WMS market at an early stage and react in a timely manner. The WMS Index lives and breathes by the broad participation of the participants – this is the only way that meaningful and representative results can be generated.

With currently 94 participating Warehouse Management Systems, warehouse-logistics.com is the most comprehensive portal in the world for comparing the functionality of these types of systems. The WMS Database has been in existence since 2000 as an information and marketing platform for WMS users and vendors. It provides all of the data necessary for selecting the right Warehouse Management System for your warehouse.
