TGW and PSI work hand in hand for HECO
General contractor TGW Systems Integration GmbH, based in Wels, Austria, is working hand in hand with PSI Logistics GmbH to implement the entire storage and order picking equipment, including a warehouse management system, at HECO.
Besides a pallet high-bay warehouse and an automatic mini-load warehouse, the system comprises extensive controls and software components implemented by TGW and PSI at HECO.
HECO currently ranks amongst the leading manufacturers of screws and fastening systems for the wood-working industry, concrete and metal construction industry as well as heavy duty fixings. In order to realise future growth and meet increasing demands on modern logistics, HECO is building a new logistics centre in Schramberg. Project partner TGW is equipping the centre with an automated system.
In an automated de-palletising area including a TGW Splitex machine, the cartons are separated and then stored in a three-aisle automatic mini-load warehouse including Mustang Evolution cranes with Twister load handlers. The solution is implemented using the TGW Commander and CI_LOG material flow control system. In addition, two TGW Magnus cranes handle double-depth pallets in the incoming goods buffer and in the automated pallet high-bay warehouse.
The warehouse management system is being implemented by project partner PSI Logistics and is included in TGW’s scope of supply. Furthermore, the PSI Transport Control System will be used to control in-house transports. PSI’s scope of supply also includes the required radio frequency terminals, the interface to HECO’s host system and to TGW’s material flow control system as well as the PSIwms archiving system.
The total order value amounts to €3.4 million and the system is scheduled to go live in summer 2013. In addition to the system investment, TGW also received an order for a comprehensive service pack, which will ensure the long-term functional reliability of the new installation.
