SAP certifies IT-competence of SSI SCHAEFER and makes the general contractor to an official SAP-partner. Fraunhofer IML validates and confirms consulting and implementation know-how of SSI SCHAEFER regarding SAP EWM.
Now it is official: Since mid of November 2011 SSI SCHAEFER is strategic SAP-service-partner. The software manufacturer has addes SSI SCHAEFER to its Partner-Edge-program. SAP-partner in this area mainly support medium-sized users at the selection, launching and operation of SAP-products - a spectrum of tasks whose possession SSI SCHÄFER has already proved in numerous successful implementations. „The inclusion to the Partner-Edge-program certifies the strategic focus of SSI SCHAEFER and similarly recognizes the international orientation as well as the successfully implemented SAP-logistic projects of the group of companies", values Michael Vollmuth, Head of SAP Consulting at SSI SCHAEFER, the official acknowledgement as SAP-partner. „Due to the qualification programs, partner events and online cooperation, we will be integrated deeper into the development and certification processes of branch-specific solutions of SAP on the one hand. On the other hand, the customers can be sure to have an experienced and by SAP certified implementation partner with the technically up-to-date IT-competencies and offers an their side.“
Since several years, the SAP-competence of SSI SCHAEFER is concentrated as an own, strongly increasing department in Giebelstadt. With the focus on the branch-specific requirements of the users the department acts as central SAP-service provider for the entire SSI SCHAEFER group. Their consulting offers the customers both detailed consulting service for process optimization also of manual processes, and also the necessary product spectrum and the solution competence for respective IT-hardware components such as server, radio data transmission components and printers. Furthermore the consulting contains an objective consultion at the planning and implementation of logistics-IT under consideration of sidestream and downstream processes as well as the effects on subsequent ERP-modules - a complete service offer borth for retrofit projects and new construction of logistic systems. So the SAP-specialists of SSI SCHAEFER demonstrate, for example, if and how certain material flow and control functions can be integrated in SAP, as well as which technical steps are necessary for that, which interfaces are necessary and where media-conversion-free and interface-free connections are possible, and they develop sustainable migration and IT-concepts for that.

Thus, the experts of the manufacturer-independent Internet platform „warehouse-logistics.com“ attest the IT-competence of SSI SCHAEFER at consulting, handling and design of the Extended Warehouse Management Systems SAP EWM. Who plans a migration- or retrofit project can compare via „warehouse-logistics.com“ in a pre-selection its process requirements via different selection categories with the offers of different manufacturers. SSI SCHAEFER is listed on the Internet platform operated by the Fraunhofer-Institute for Material Flow and Logistics (IML) as verified and validated service provided.
A respective reference project describes the successful implementation of SAP EWM at the Turkish confectionary and bakery producer Sölen. At the site Silivri in the province Istanbul, SSI SCHAEFER has realized an automatic distribution center in 2010. For interfaces and cost reduction, Sölen has decided in favour of the Extended Warehouse Management System SAP EWM as central integration platform for the new intra-logistics. „Automation and SAP EWM are still unusual in the logistics of Turkey", explains Serhan Er, Head of logistics of the Sölen-logistics center in Istanbul. „With the combination of both this project is one of the most ambitious logistics projects far beyond the borders of Turkey. During the professional course of the project SSI SCHAEFER could prove both the competence for the intra-logistics and for the layout of the SAP-system - and could thus avoid possible problems just from the beginning“
Within eight months SSI Schäfer was able to implement the IT-project at Sölen including installation, the customer-specific layout as well as the connection of the SAP-warehouse software to the superior ERP-System of SAP in due time. Speciality of the project: The SAP-warehouse software with its functional range not only needed to consider the actual processes and the Islamic regulations for the Helal-certified food procuder. The layout of SAP EMW by SSI SCHAEFER is furthermore designed with high flexibility for further growth and the layout for future business processes. In addition, numerous tools and integrated functions care for high transparency and flexibility of the IT-solution of SSI Schäfer. „The warehouse volume has increased by the factor 9, the commodity flows can ben tracked by one click", summarized the head of logistics: „We are extremely satisfied with the solution of SSI SCHAEFER.“
The actual certification of SSI SCHAEFER as SAP-service-partner, however, also contains all further logistic IT-products of SAP. Such as SAP WM/LES which runs under the SAP ERP-platform unlike SAP EWM. The spectrum of the so connected solution potential is proved by the example of Rudolf Ostermann GmbH, Bocholt. The full-range distributor for joinery and interior fitting is the European-wide leading mail order company of edges and armatures. In April 2010, SSI SCHAEFER received the order for process optimization of the logistics as well as for the construction of a high-bay warehouse (HBW) at the site Bocholt – including the optimal IT-connection. The project has been separated into two phases. Speciality: The solution should be carried out with the SAP WM installed at Ostermann and after completion of the second project phase should also control the processes of the new HBW.
First it was necessary to optimize the existing voucher-controlled warehouse processes in small-parts, rack and pallet warehouse by change to data transmission. The project phase has been completed in due time in November 2011. With their understanding for logistic processes the SAP-experts of SSI SCHAEFER could generate a solution for Ostermann which enables an online booking in SAP WM by voucherless data logging. SSI SCHAEFER supplied the entire IT-hardware for that. Software-sided the SAP WM-component Task & Ressource Management TRM) has been activated for integrated process supports, configured in customizing and tailored to the real-time data exchange with some special programmings. Result: specific, time and way optimized control of the manual warehouse processes, transparent real-time inventory maintenance as well as resource-efficient, faster and more detailed order processing in an uniform SAP-system landscape..
With the second project phase, the implementation of the automatic high-bay warehouse and the integration of its material flow control in SAP TRM is currently carried out in Bocholt. After the system-configuration in connection with the data transmission solution for the manual warehouse processes, the process control of the automatic warehouse will also be carried out directly from SAP WM without additional interfaces to subordinate systems after the completion.
The examples illustrate: SSI SCHAEFER is a valuable and competent partner for SAP, especially in the function as one of the leading and globally present manufacturer and supplier of efficient intra-logistics solutions. Extensive services, consulting and development services in the logistics-environment of the SAP-paltforms ERP and SCM as well as the perfect integration of conveyor and warehouse engineering in the IT-infrastructure are one of the core competences of the general contractor SSI SCHAEFER. With the now carried out entry into the Partner-Edge-program of SAP, SSI SCHÄFER now has the competence in handling and design of SAP WEM already certified on the IML-website as officially qualified partner of SAP. „A kind of TÜV-seal for IT-competence in the SAP-area", resumes Vollmuth. „Besides rack systems, conveyor system and dynamic systems we offer our customers an entire service pallet for IT-affije projects ranging from consulting for process optimization of manual warehouses to technical components of the IT-hardware up to implementation and the customer-specific design of logistic SAP-products.
