PSI Delivers Warehouse Management System to Kärcher


PSIwms controls logistics processes in expanded logistics centre

PSI subsidiary PSI Logistics GmbH is supplying the warehouse management system PSIwms, precisely customised for the requirements of the cleaning specialists Alfred Kärcher GmbH & Co. KG, for the control of the processes in the expanded logistics centre.

The world’s leading provider of cleaning systems, products and services for private households, businesses and industry, put its expanded logistics centre for spare parts and accessories in Obersontheim in Baden-Württemberg into operation at the end of March. PSI Logistics, acting as the IT general contractor, is designing and customising the IT infrastructure for the 20,000 square meter expanded logistics centre. To accomplish this, the new release of the warehouse management system PSIwms including the additional modules interface to web services or the support of pick-by-voice (PbV) were implemented.

PSIwms controls almost all the logistics processes in the expanded logistics centre with 23,000 pallet places and an eight-aisle automatic small parts warehouse with 85,000 container places. With the commissioning strategy such as pick-by-light (PbL) and pick-by-voice (PbV) included and an integrated case calculation, it is possible to commission and pack heterogeneous articles, optimised for unit packing and loading space, PSIwms controls orders with up to 15,000 items daily from an inventory of 65,000 articles. Other important system functionalities are a safe air cargo handling, a dynamic prioritisation and automatic rail shipping control and a time-window control customised for scheduled commissioning and order consolidation.
