LogiMAT 2024: SWAN introduces expanded portfolio with SAP DM

WAN GmbH offers logistics expertise along the entire customer lifecycle. At LogiMAT 2024, the project house for SAP logistics will be presenting its solutions based on the SAP modules SAP EWM and SAP TM as well as – for the first time – SAP DM.
With the module, SWAN closes the data gap between warehouse and production to optimize logistics processes. With its 24/7 service, SWAN covers the entire life cycle of warehouse logistics and Logistics 4.0 beyond the go-live – also for third-party customers. SWAN will also be presenting its own product solutions and providing insights into its corporate strategy. You will find SWAN in Hall 8 at Booth F52.
At LogiMAT 2024, SWAN will once again be demonstrating its comprehensive expertise in the field of logistics solutions. From small, manual warehouses to highly automated corporate logistics with international locations: with its broad SAP knowledge, SWAN is the competent partner across the entire customer lifecycle; in hot project phases during migration and implementation, for release upgrades, patches or for customer-specific training courses.
Implementations, retrofits, and software upgrades: SAP EWM S/4HANA for Industry and Logistics 4.0
Since its beginnings in 2011, SWAN has stood for comprehensive automation expertise in all aspects of material flow, functionality, and process support for the implementation of customized and efficient SAP logistics solutions. Customers benefit from the agile project methodology, which involves not only the project teams but also future users at an early stage. Their acceptance is an important building block for the success of future-proof and data-based logistics, warehouse, or supply chain processes in Logistics 4.0.
Besides projects to implement SAP EWM in new warehouse buildings, SWAN also plans, supports, and implements retrofit and upgrade projects. »We are seeing increasing demand for the modernization of existing warehouses and their software, i.e., so-called retrofit projects,« says Andreas Simon, Director Sales at SWAN. »In addition to global economic triggers and upcoming replacements of proprietary systems, many companies are also being driven by the upcoming migration to SAP S/4 HANA due to the discontinuation of outdated SAP WM and SAP EWM releases 7-9.«
SAP TM Basic as successor solution for LE-TRA
SAP customers are also facing a system change in Transportation Management. SAP has discontinued the LE-TRA module, which companies have been using to plan, execute and bill transportation processes, at the end of 2027. With an almost 1:1 transfer of functionality, SAP TM Basic is the successor to LE-TRA, which is license-free for users. »The system change should be seen as an opportunity to scrutinize and automate current processes and also to rely on user-friendly and performance oriented SAPUI5 interfaces in transport processing,« emphasizes Martin Fröschl, Director SAP TM at SWAN. »SWAN supports customers during the smooth changeover to SAP TM Basic and implements projects close to standard within 16 weeks.« The system changeover also offers companies the opportunity to check whether full use of SAP TM in the Advanced version, which requires a license, is suitable for them.
Extensive SAP expertise with SAP DM
A new addition to SWAN’s service portfolio is the recently released SAP Digital Manufacturing (SAP DM) module. SAP DM utilizes existing IoT possibilities by connecting machines in production. Consisting of a Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and an intelligent KPI system, the generic solution can be connected to various systems and, thanks to integrated sensor data, can intervene deeply in production situations. »With the addition of SAP DM, SWAN is combining its logistics expertise with the requirements of efficient production logistics, thereby closing a gap,« says Matthias Ebert, Senior SAP SCM Consultant at SWAN.
»From the material flow at goods receipt, we control the entire production process almost in real time and can connect all production machines with technical interfaces to familiar SAP systems across all industries. Thanks to the resulting standardized database in the familiar system, companies improve the quality of their production, save on personnel costs and secure significant competitive advantages in Industry 4.0,« says Ebert.
SWAN Customer Lifecycle Service (CLS) introduces itself
At SWAN, all projects are designed to be long-term and service oriented. This is why the SWAN Customer Lifecycle Service (CLS) is involved in the customer project from the very beginning and is already actively involved in project phases such as testing, commissioning or ramp-up/hypercare. After the go-live, the CLS team is available to customers and third-party customers with incident management day and night, 365 days a year. SWAN also offers change request management, development services and customized training courses, also in collaboration with the SWAN Academy.

SWAN products: Improved functionalities and usability for Logistics 4.0
Product demonstrations at the booth complement the trade fair presentation. Among other things, SWAN will be presenting solutions for connecting highly efficient warehouse systems such as AutoStore® or driverless transport systems. Interested visitors will gain an insight into how SWAN integrates fleet controllers from external manufacturers such as NAVIOS from DS AUTOMOTION into SAP EWM and provides suitable dialogs for the SAP EWM world. Information from the connected external systems can thus be displayed directly in the SAP user interface; the AutoStore system can already be controlled directly from SAP with SWAN. Another example of optimized usability is the SWAN 3D Logistics Cockpit. The solution uses existing data from SAP EWM to create an interactive, virtual 3D warehouse image with a user-friendly UI5 interface.
SWAN’s range of services also includes the development of technical interfaces for connecting SAP or non-SAP systems and for controlling automated systems, as well as ongoing consulting and services. »We are very much looking forward to the personal exchange and to presenting our revised product and service portfolio to all trade fair guests,« emphasizes SWAN Managing Director Alexander Bernhard.
