Unikalo automates its warehouse for building paint

Unikalo, a manufacturer and distributor of paints and coatings for construction professionals, will install a high-density automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) in its production plant in Cestas, south of Bordeaux (France). The AS/RS will be managed by Easy WMS.
»We decided to automate our facility to meet customer demands more effectively, especially when shipping full pallets,« says Romain Pestourie, General Manager of Unikalo.
Mecalux will equip the French distributor’s warehouse with the Automated Pallet Shuttle. This AS/RS will house over 6,800 pallets containing finished goods. In addition to optimising floor space, the solution will increase the number of cycles per hour as directed by Easy WMS. The high-density AS/RS features motorised shuttle cars that autonomously insert and remove pallets from their locations.
Easy WMS, Mecalux’s warehouse management system will provide total product traceability, which is essential for ensuring top quality.
