inconso implements SAP LES at new regional warehouse, additional regional warehouses to follow

Viessmann Werke GmbH & Co. KG, the leading manufacturer of heating technology systems, has started operations at a new warehouse located at the headquarters of the company group in Allendorf (Eder). The warehouse management and control under SAP LES was developed, implemented and integrated into the existing ERP system by inconso AG.

The new regional warehouse is fed from the existing distribution center directly via conveyor technology. From here, the immediate delivery to the regional craftsmen businesses, to the construction sites and the ten transshipment points in Germany. The warehouse is set up for an order volume of up to 1,600 delivery notes with an average of 10 delivery positions per day. Thanks to the dynamic item supply from the neighboring distribution center, more than 7,000 different items can be ordered until 6PM on a day and delivered to the customer on the following day.

The manual warehouse consists of the main functional areas: Goods receiving from external sources and from the distribution center, manual operated pallet warehouse and shelf warehouse, consolidation locations/pack zones, staging areas and loading. All processes are steered using RF: From the store-in, to the reallocation, picking, packing and on through to the loading, all tasks are triggered and controlled using MDE equipment. Due to the use of this technology, each worker is able to be used in nearly any work area. This allows for flexible planning of the shift plans. Within a shift and based on the work progress, the workers work in different, sequential areas. Dynamic picking zones were implemented to also allow for highly flexible steering of the order picking processes. This allows Viessmann to modify the zones with the right quantity and dimension based on the actual work load. Large volume shipping items are directly brought to the loading zone. The integration with an external route planning system has been established allows for RF supported sorting, staging and loading based on the route optimization results.

The solution developed here is also being implemented by inconso AG in Vallese, an Italian regional warehouse of the Viessmann Group. The Viessmann Group is an international leading manufacturer of heating technology systems. The family company was founded in 1917. The group has a total revenue of ca. euro 1,7 billion and employs ca. 8,600 workers. With 16 factories in Germany, France, Canada, Poland, Hungary, Austria and China and sales organizations in 37 countries as well as 120 sales subsidiaries, Viessmann is internationally oriented. 60 percent of the revenue comes from exports.
