25.01.2010

Vanderlande Industries has been awarded the contract for a new baggage handling system as part of the new Terminal D at Kiev Boryspil International Airport.

The total value for the contract for Vanderlande Industries is approximately EUR 9.6 million.

The Ukraine, together with Poland, will host the UEFA European soccer championships in 2012. The capital of the Ukraine, Kiev, has been selected to host the final match. To be able to cope with the additional passenger traffic, a new state-of-the art international passenger terminal will be built.

Vanderlande Industries was awarded the contract because it offered the best solution that resulted in the lowest lifecycle costs and optimal operational performance.

The project for Vanderlande Industries includes amongst others 60 check-ins, inline screening, a Helixorter tilt tray sorter, a lane based Early Bag Storage for 750 bags, make-up and arrival carousels, an all new Vanderlande Baggage Reconciliation System (embedded in the VIBES software suite) and a CCTV system. The total contract value amounts to over Euro 9.6 million. Take-over of the system is scheduled for the end of August 2011, ahead of time to be ready for the EUFA 2012 soccer championship finals in Kiev.

This project is the second in a row for Vanderlande in the Ukraine, in October 2009 Kharkov Airport awarded Vanderlande Industries the contract for the supply of a baggage system, also to be ready ahead of the UEFA 2012 soccer games.

The Baggage Reconciliation System (VIBES.BRS) offers airport operators a further expansion of functionalities within the Vanderlande VIBES software environment.
