New WMS for the world market leader
The world market leader for pressure and temperature measuring technology, WIKA Alexander Wiegand SE & Co. KG, headquartered in Klingenberg am Main, has commissioned viastore systems with the introduction of a new Warehouse Management System (WMS) at its distribution and production warehouse. In future, some 80 WIKA employees will work in the automatic mini-load system, the high-bay warehouse and the wireless warehouse using viad@tWMS.
The scope of supply includes not only the WMS, but also the material flow system and the system visualization feature for the automatic part of the facility. viad@t supports all process steps, from goods reception to dispatch of the products. The WMS is directly linked to the Microsoft Dynamics AX ERP system and supersedes the software of a third-party supplier in ongoing operation.
The standard WMS viad@t, which is independent from databases, operating systems and hardware, maps all functions that are required between goods receipt and shipment. It consists of a basic package whose functions can be switched on or off, depending on the requirements, the type of warehouse, and the performance. This is why the WMS is appropriate for complex logistics centers with various areas and a high performance just as for automated systems of low to medium turnovers or for conventional logistics centers. It is highly flexible and conforms, over the years, to the growth, the changing requirements and the new processes of an enterprise. Moreover, viad@t includes all modules required for controlling storage and retrieval machines, conveyor systems, sorters, picking systems and other mechanical components. Beyond, it governs the control and the visualization of complex material flow processes.
The software package is fully scalable as to function and performance. It employs the best possible strategy for any process. Next to the core functions of a WMS, such as inventory management, order control, cycle count, master data, print functions, user administration or control station function, customer-specific additional functions such as the management of lots or serial numbers or the energy management can be implemented. Via standardized interfaces, it can be coupled to third-party products, for instances to special forwarding, customs or shipping softwares.
The WMS supports shuttle systems as well as all picking principles such as man-to-goods, goods-to-man, radio data transmission, pick-by-light, pick-by-voice, high performance picking via HPPS or the robot picking system viapick. viad@t provides valuable help for the warehouse management as well: it automatically and dynamically selects the proper location, provides an optimum goods status report, and considers the inbound and relocation optimization. A user-dependent voice output supports the users and ensures that viad@t can be used world-wide. An extensive system of key figures facilitates the analysis and optimization of all processes.
