PROLAG®World goes east - Parker Hannifin install PROLAG®World at their plant in the Czech Republic

14.08.2014

fter a fast and trouble-free implementation phase, Parker Hannifin Manufacturing Germany GmbH & Co. KG went live with CIM GmbH’s warehouse management solution in May 2014 at their plant in the Czech Republic. PROLAG®World now handles all the production supply and warehouse management processes at the site.

Parker Hannifin’s plant in the Czech Republic went live with PROLAG®World in May 2014. As a manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems, Parker primarily produces hoses, pumps and couplers for hydraulic applications. In order to guarantee smooth production supply processes and stable material flows, they opted to implement CIM GmbH’s warehouse management software (WMS) PROLAG®World. »The new chaotic storage system saves space in the warehouse, but more importantly, it allows us to keep track of all our operations and processes both in the warehouse and in our production department«, explains Tommy Förster, project manager at Parker Hannifin. »CIM GmbH is the ideal logistics IT partner as far as we’re concerned. We were particularly impressed by their accurate and flexible project management. The implementation phase was smooth, trouble-free and extremely fast«, continues Förster.

In over 1,500 square metres of warehouse, PROLAG®World manages 5,000 hydraulic products which are stored in 10,000 crates on 3,000 pallets – everything from small parts and semi-finished products right up to larger pumps and finished parts. Semi-finished products arrive at the goods receipt area from the plant in Chemnitz. The warehouse staff enters the goods in the system using a short range scanner. The proposed storage location depends on whether the articles are fast-moving or slow-moving items and whether a single crate is placed in storage, or several crates one on top of the other. Articles required for an assembly order are processed by the shortage item handling function in the software: The scanner displays an appropriate message, and the system checks how many articles are required at the assembly area and how many can be put into storage.

There are two different versions of picking: in version one, the exploded bill of material for each production order is transferred from the host system to the logistics software. Using the forklift routing system, PROLAG®World guides employees to the relevant storage locations on the shortest pick paths. The articles are retrieved according to the FIFO principle and transported to the appropriate assembly area.

Using the second version of picking, employees create a retrieval order for a finished part on their RF device. They then scan the retrieval note, generate a picking order in PROLAG®World and fetch the article directly from the warehouse.
