inconsoWMS X gives Gerry Weber full control of the new logistics center

06.08.2015

The textile trading company Gerry Weber has tasked inconso with the implementation of a multifunctional Warehouse Management System (WMS). The inconsoWMS X will manage the warehouse's complete logistic IT control.

Gerry Weber International AG is currently building a new logistics center in Ravenna Park in Halle/Westphalia. The company will use the industry-specific fulfillment version of the warehouse management system inconsoWMS X for the warehouse's complete logistic IT control. It will manage everything from Goods Receiving to store-in and picking through to Goods Issue and shipping. The logistics center designed by Gerry Weber and Pierau Planung will supply nearly 1,000 stores and sales spaces, more than 2,800 shop spaces and about 280 franchise stores. It will also process customer orders from the company's online shops in nine countries.

inconsoWMS X will enable a bundling of logistic process steps in the new logistics center. The various logistic focuses on hanging and flat packed goods as well as outlet goods has been handled by different logistics service providers up to now. Thanks to the fulfillment-specific software solution, stocks that are distributed across three halls and two main buildings can now be stored independently as well as prepared for B2B outbound deliveries or B2C orders. The highly automated logistics center includes a triple-deep shuttle warehouse with automated picking locations, a high-bay warehouse and special conveyor technology for hanging goods. It also provides room for processing product-related and customer-specific value-added services, e.g. for attaching customer-specific safety labels that are also considered in inconsoWMS X's IT control. Thus, the textile company consolidates the logistics for finished goods for the first time. Accordingly, the warehouse management system's task is to manage and control them.

Along with the granular stock management from production through to delivery, the inconsoWMS fulfillment solution also incorporates Gerry Weber's RFID processes. Since 2010, all of the textile company's items are equipped with RFID chips. They can be assigned to particular production orders in each processing step and, in case of returns processing, track the goods. The data density and constant data availability accompanying such automated goods flows demand high system performance.
