Buzzing with activity

16.03.2016

Intralogistics software designer CIM GmbH can reflect on a successful and intensive LogiMAT in Stuttgart this year. New contacts were established and interesting technical matters were discussed. CIM welcomed numerous visitors to their stand who had the chance to work live with the PROLAG®World Warehouse Management System and were impressed by the flexibility of the product. Visitors also queued to listen to the innovations forum lecture on »Transparent Logistics«.

»Our stand was buzzing with activity – we had a huge number of visitors who were all extremely enthusiastic about our software and its real time capabilities«, says Fritz Mayr, managing director of CIM. Visitors were able to test PROLAG®World for themselves at CIM’s stand and pick confectionery articles by smartphone or scanner. Thanks to the software’s internet capability, goods movements and inventory updates could be viewed in real time on the attached
dashboard.

Innovations Forum: Connectivity and Logistik 4.0

CIM’s lecture on »Transparent Logistics – Optimal Integration of Humans, IT and Mobile Devices« was also well received by listeners. After providing a brief overview of the various stages of the first Industrial Revolution, logistics consultant Robert Slusarz went on to interpret today’s Logistik 4.0 (or Industry 4.0) in the context of all three preceding revolutions.

His conclusion: humans, machines, IT systems and mobile clients already communicate with each other and are capable of organizing themselves to some extent. The next advancements under Logistik 5.0 are likely to be »sensorization«, positioning and qualification, he predicted. Only by identifying the position of the goods and participants within the delivery chain and their quality – which is recorded by sensors – and by detecting any changes in real time, can the way finally be paved for the Internet of Things. The WMS will take on a new role in the warehouse as an observer and decision-maker for its specific part of the supply chain.

Standard software with Internet capability

»We’ve noticed a significant increase in enquiries about our standard software«, explains Mayr. »Customers are looking for standardized solutions which are tried and tested but also configurable, so that they can be tailored to the various different workflows in the warehouse«.

Visitors to LogiMAT had the opportunity to find out all about CIM’s standard software products – warehouse management, shipping, production logistics, the forklift routing system as well as solutions for automated warehouses. All solutions are internet-enabled and modular in design and are suitable for small, mid-size, large and automated warehouses. The different product packages are tailored to the specific logistics requirements of retailers, manufacturers, 3PL providers and the healthcare sector.

»This year’s LogiMAT was again the perfect place for interested parties to come and find out in detail about our software«, comments Veronika Hillreiner, CIM’s trade fair organizer. »We had many interesting discussions with visitors to our stand and made a number of valuable new contacts. All in all, we were delighted at the keen interest in our products«.
