Video diary CLAAS: stacker cranes inserted through the roof

12.09.2019

1,800 tons of steel and 6,000 m² of automatic high-bay warehouse: The expansion of the central spare parts warehouse by 56,000 additional pallet positions for the agricultural machinery group CLAAS is taking shape. In the future, 200,000 spare parts for combine harvesters, tractors, forage harvesters, telescopic loaders, mowers and balers will be housed in Hamm-Uentrop. Together with CLAAS Service & Parts, we are currently implementing an expansion with future potential.

The high-bay warehouse has been under construction since the beginning of the year. For this purpose, the 9-aisle 30 m high racking system was initially set up on the floor slab. After this roof and wall panels were mounted - this procedure is also called silo construction.

This was followed by the insertion of the stacker cranes. To show how this spectacular building step looks live, we captured together with Claas in moving pictures. The video is available here.

In the meantime, the entire conveyor technology has been installed and is now being put into operation step by step. The next step is the installation of the software and its test in conjunction with the automated conveyor technology. From the end of November, the new high-bay warehouse will be filled with spare parts.
