AS Arbeitsschutz Plays It Safe with inconso

04.12.2019

As part of a comprehensive modernization project, AS Arbeitsschutz GmbH is starting to expand its existing logistics capacities in Bedburg, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany.

The retailer of personal protective equipment, workwear and professional clothing, best known for the NITRAS brand, is redesigning many of its existing facilities. The logistics software specialist inconso is responsible for the implementation of a powerful IT solution to control the semiautomated components.

In four halls with a total area of 10,000 sqm, AS Arbeitsschutz focuses on working with technical wholesalers and on supplying goods to sales partners in over 30 countries. Products range from protective gloves to safety shoes through to clothing, protective goggles, breathing masks and aprons. As the product range continues to grow, about 10,000 SKUs (stock keeping units) for shipping up to 6,400 parcels will be managed in the future.

During the redesign of the logistics processes at the Bedburg headquarters, loading aid structures in the goods receiving and goods issue area, warehouse structures for pallets and picking strategies will be implemented. The integration of the AutoStore® automated storage and retrieval system is also planned. inconsoWMS will connect the technical components, which enables the central planning and control of all logistics processes at the Bedburg location.

At the same time, the implementation of a modern system landscape creates a future-proof basis for the expected continual growth of AS Arbeitsschutz. “The versions of inconsoWMS, which have been specially configured to meet our requirements, help us meet changing needs in retail. Related to this and the growth of the company, the requirements for internal warehouse processes are increasing, so we are trying to optimize and adapt them. We are looking forward to working with inconso that understands these extremely complex industry requirements and has the necessary IT know-how to future-proof our intralogistics processes,” explains Tina Philippsen, Head of Logistics at AS Arbeitsschutz.
