Which module components of SuPCIS-L8 do our customers particularly appreciate?

High quality and safety requirements in the warehouse, a growing market and the associated increase in the number of batches present companies in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries with the challenge of efficiently handling logistical processes and procedures. In this context, we would like to introduce you to »typical« processes that our customers particularly appreciate in the SuPCIS-L8 warehouse management software: the possibility of seamlessly tracing batches including best-before dates and the associated strict allocation of stock to orders, as well as the quality assurance module stored in SuPCIS-L8.

An absolute must: complete transparency in the supply chain

For the industry, it is of particular importance to be able to trace the products transparently and completely. After all, who is not familiar with the example sentence: »The manufacturer informs that the stocks of batch number 041021 on the market must be withdrawn from circulation immediately (...)« - then it has to happen quickly and, above all, the manufacturer has to know which stock of goods is meant. Users receive functional support here with the batch management integrated in our WMS SuPCIS-L8. In this way, it is specifically defined in the master data which products must be managed with a batch number. If a product is »subject to batch management«, the data is already recorded at goods receipt and checked against the configured specifications. In this way, it is also known within the warehouse in which storage location which batch is located. The entry can be made manually, by scanning or by RFID and is then registered in the system. Depending on the product, there are different patterns and variants of batch numbers. The recorded batch number then remains unchanged for all goods movements - whether internally or during delivery to an external location - and is continuously carried along. Two different batches can be stored in one storage location if they are in different loading aids, for example on a pallet. A mixing of different batches in one FM - for example in a carton - does not take place.

In the case of deliveries, the recorded batches can also be reported back to the ERP system for each delivery. In this way, complete batch tracing is possible at any time.

First expired - First out.

Another characteristic of products that must be managed in the warehouse is the best-before date (BBD date) of a product. The assignment of a best-before date is either done manually via adjustable parameters or is calculated automatically per item by assigning a shelf life in the item master.

Alternatively, the best-before date (MDH) can also be transferred to SuPCIS-L8 via a superimposed system. In the course of preparing the articles for picking, the WMS then decides automatically according to a configurable principle whether the goods should be picked using the FEFO principle, for example.

With the help of the cockpits and dashboards in SuPCIS-L8, the staff in the control room have full transparency - for example, articles that have exceeded the best-before date can also be automatically blocked for reservation.

Ensure the quality of the goods and create security in the warehouse

Especially in the chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries, a high level of quality and safety is required. In practice, the SuPCIS-L8 QA inspection module supports and facilitates quality inspection with extensive functions and industry-specific configuration options. Special test steps can be linked on a process basis and placed in the appropriate sequence. In addition, the management of inspection lots and the generation of inspection orders are mapped. The connected ERP system transmits an inspection lot to the WMS SuPCIS-L8 with further information, such as the type and number of products to be inspected. The goods concerned are then transported - before they are even available as stock in the WMS - to the »Quality Assurance« department, where they are subjected to the respective inspection procedure. Following the inspection, the WMS is either informed about which stocks can be released and thus managed and stored as stock in the warehouse, or the release is integrated in the WMS and the feedback is sent to the ERP or Order Management System (OMS).

The overall result of implementing SuPCIS-L8: users always have a transparent overview of the supply chain. In this way, defective goods can be quickly and easily identified and removed from circulation. In addition, the use of SuPCIS-L8 ensures a high level of quality and the associated increase in quality management.
