E-commerce and the WMS SuPCIS-L8

07.10.2021

These module components of SuPCIS-L8 are particularly appreciated by our customers from the e-commerce sector!

With the claim: »Ordered today, in the house tomorrow«, a large number of customers are now on the move in internet commerce, because as a rule online shopping means: it is convenient, it is quick and it is possible from anywhere and at any time. However, this also increases the demands on the logistics processes of many suppliers in the e-commerce industry, which have to be managed in the best possible way in the competition for customers. Of course, the requirements of each customer and the conditions of each warehouse can be described differently, but we would like to give you an understanding of some »typical« processes that our customers from the e-commerce sector particularly appreciate in the SuPCIS-L8 warehouse management software: intelligent picking strategies, space-optimised storage forms in manual warehouses, ideas for the best possible implementation of next-day delivery and the Seller Fulfilled Prime API from Amazon in the SuPCIS-L8 warehouse management system.

Using lean processes in the warehouse as an opportunity

Fast and reliable processing of customer orders and deliveries - the flexible software modules of SuPCIS-L8 make it possible to integrate intelligent picking strategies in your warehouse. The aim is to streamline processes by minimising walking distances and to select the best possible material flow in each case. The basis for this is an optimised stock reservation and an exact classification of the reservation results, which are used to put together sensible pick orders on a transport unit on the basis of an order pool. In this way, the distances travelled can be reduced by up to 30% and thus customer orders can be completed with less effort.

In order to manage stocks in manually operated shelf storage areas in a space-saving manner and distributed at several locations, SuPCIS-L8 provides a combination of different storage forms, which is often found in the distribution of e-commerce logistics. The strategy consists of placing items in several locations in the warehouse and storing them according to size. At the same time, several items are stored in one storage location - but items that are too similar are not stored directly next to or on top of each other in order to minimise the risk of confusion.

The flexibility of our warehouse management software makes it easy to handle the next-day delivery process - due to customer demands for ever shorter delivery times, this has already become something of a standard. An example: SuPCIS-L8 automatically calculates whether critical situations in the delivery process can occur due to a shortage of resources, when orders with a high probability will no longer reach the scheduled tour. Taking the order load into account, the WMS decides automatically and on an order-by-order basis whether a change in the picking method is an option in order to achieve the highest possible level of service.

The Seller Fulfilled Prime API in the WMS SuPCIS-L8

Customers who are active in the e-commerce sector often also offer their range of goods on the online platform Amazon. The survey results of a study* show that Amazon Prime customers in particular are on the platform much more frequently and usually make use of the available Prime items in this context.

However, in order to obtain Prime status as a seller, the goods must be stored at Amazon, i.e. the goods must be brought to Amazon's distribution centre and thus additional storage costs are incurred. With the »Seller Fulfilled Prime« programme, on the other hand, the customer can process his goods in his own logistics centre and still be listed Prime. However, this also means that the user is subject to Amazon's imposed specifications, which have to be met - but how? With the »Seller Fulfilled Prime API« fully integrated in the warehouse management system SuPCIS-L8, users are able to fulfil the guidelines for »Seller Fulfilled Prime« prescribed by Amazon and thus have the possibility to quickly and easily acquire the required shipping labels directly from Amazon - automated and without having to worry about employees in the logistics process. In addition to financial incentives, the special benefit is that the »Seller Fulfilled Prime API« in SuPCIS-L8 makes a significant contribution to the ecological sustainability of the entire supply chain. For example, the existing stock of goods remains in the supplier's warehouse and is shipped directly to the end customers after the purchase is completed. The decision as to which goods are to be offered at what time with the Amazon Prime service is also up to the supplier himself, if possible.

The result: through the processes mapped in SuPCIS-L8, the user benefits from maximum flexibility as well as maximum profitability and speed! This not only increases the satisfaction of your customers, but at the same time increases customer loyalty to your company and paves the way for further growth of your company.
