Flexible and simple shopfloor integration for SAP Digital Manufacturing

The SAP project house IGZ and United Manufacturing Hub (UMH) announce the launch of their partnership in the manufacturing domain. The goal of the collaboration is to support industrial companies in the fast and scalable implementation of data-driven production processes based on SAP Digital Manufacturing.

At the core of the partnership is the combination of IGZ’s SAP-based production and integration expertise with the open-source industrial data platform of United Manufacturing Hub. Together, the partners enable an end-to-end connection between the shopfloor, machine level, and the SAP system landscape – from data acquisition to operational production control.

Background to the partnership

SAP Digital Manufacturing is increasingly evolving into the central platform for modern cloud-based production processes. Companies face the challenge of efficiently integrating heterogeneous machine landscapes and making production data consistently usable.

This is where the cooperation comes in: United Manufacturing Hub provides a data platform supporting more than 150 IT and OT protocols, capturing and analyzing real-time data directly at the production line.

The decisive advantage: UMH transfers this data in a cleansed, contextualized, and cost-efficient manner into the cloud-based SAP landscape. With decades of industry expertise, IGZ is responsible for end-to-end implementation, process integration, and industrialization within the SAP environment.

»Through this partnership, we create a powerful architecture for the digital factory for our customers – from machine integration and SAP Digital Manufacturing to data-driven optimization and AI scenarios«,explains Christian Köllner, Head of SAP Manufacturing at IGZ.

»With IGZ, we are delivering a truly end-to-end solution from the shopfloor to the SAP cloud for the first time – scalable, cost-efficient, and without compromising data quality«,
says Alexander Krüger, Founder and CEO of United Manufacturing Hub.

By pooling their expertise, customers benefit from:

  • Faster implementation of SAP Digital Manufacturing
  • Scalable machine integration in weeks instead of months
  • Access to context-rich data for production control, analytics and artificial intelligence
  • 90% reduced complexity in OT/IT integration projects
  • Accelerated implementation of Industry 4.0 and AI use cases

Outlook

The partnership is aimed at industrial companies from discrete manufacturing (mechanical engineering and component manufacturing, high-tech/electronics, medical technology, automotive industry) and the process industry (food, beverages, consumer goods, chemicals), among others, that want to modernize their production processes and scale them on a cloud basis.

IGZ and United Manufacturing Hub are planning joint customer projects, reference architectures and the expansion of best practices relating to SAP Digital Manufacturing and data-driven production platforms. Initial joint customer projects include HiPP.
