Austin Lighthouse Selects Manhattan Associates to Optimize Warehouse Management

08.07.2008

Global supply chain optimization provider Manhattan Associates, Inc. announced that Austin Lighthouse, has selected Manhattan's Solutions

Global supply chain optimization provider Manhattan Associates, Inc. today announced that third-party logistics (3PL) provider Travis Association for the Blind, also known as Austin Lighthouse, has selected Manhattan's Billing Management, Slotting Optimization and Manhattan ILS™: Integrated Logistics Solutions, built on Microsoft® .NET.

Seventy-five percent of the employees at Austin Lighthouse, based in Austin, Texas, are blind or visually impaired. These workers distribute uniforms and uniform-related products for the U.S. Department of Defense. The organization's existing, aging warehouse system could not keep up with expanding needs and did not provide voice picking features in its fulfillment processes to accommodate the needs of a visually impaired workforce.

"Manhattan Associates stood out over the competition with its deep subject matter expertise — not only in addressing the supply chain requirements of 3PLs but also in servicing the needs of a National Industries for the Blind (NIB) organization," said Jerry Mayfield, executive director at Austin Lighthouse. "The Manhattan ILS solution will help us integrate the many business processes of the supply chain so our customers receive their goods when they expect them."

Billing Management provides a flexible activity-based solution, using time-based rules, to streamline cost tracking and analyze cost data. Slotting Optimization scientifically determines the best picking profile for a warehouse and enables organizations to make timely, intelligent decisions as ordering trends change. Manhattan ILS uses sophisticated optimization techniques to improve the flow of goods throughout supply chains, enabling companies to tie together processes, data and workflows to increase order accuracy, improve deliveries and gain total visibility into inventory. The solution is optimized for the Microsoft platform, and uses the complete Microsoft .NET Framework to provide a familiar, easy-to-use experience across all modules.

"Third-party logistics providers such as Austin Lighthouse are turning to Manhattan to gain significant business advantage by tying together processes, data and workflows to increase order accuracy, improve deliveries and gain complete visibility into inventory," said Jeff Mitchell, executive vice president, Manhattan Associates. "Our solutions enable 3PLs to generate the process efficiencies needed to better service their customers."
