Manhattan Associates To Run Supply Chain Optimization Solutions With HP Virtualization Technology

18.11.2008

Manhattan Associates announced a partnership with HP

Global supply chain optimization provider Manhattan Associates, Inc. (NASDAQ: MANH) today announced a partnership with HP that enables solutions within the Manhattan SCOPE™ portfolio to run on HP BladeSystem virtualization technology, including the Virtual Connect Flex-10 products, which provide the technology and engineering necessary to achieve the highest levels of performance and efficiency for running the world's largest supply chain networks. Manhattan Associates will leverage the benefits of data center virtualization with HP BladeSystem where customers can benefit through more efficient use of compute and consolidated network resources.

Virtualization essentially lets one computer do the job of multiple computers by sharing resources across multiple environments. IT organizations benefit from virtualization through better use of existing IT assets, flexibility in developing and deploying new environments, a significantly smaller hardware footprint and a reduction in the cost of IT assets.

"The HP BladeSystem will provide our customers with enhanced flexibility in developing and deploying new workloads on a significantly smaller hardware footprint with the subsequent reduction in data center power requirements and operating costs," said Eddie Capel, executive vice president for product management and customer support, Manhattan Associates. "HP Virtual Connect Flex-10 technology allows Manhattan customers to consolidate and optimize their network connections while maximizing their use of our supply chain optimization platforms, resulting in maximized performance and flexibility, without the capacity challenges that were symptomatic of previous generations of virtualization technology."

HP's Virtual Connect Flex-10, the world's first technology to fine-tune network bandwidth and priority at the server, works with the HP Virtual Connect 4Gb Fibre Channel module and the HP BL495c blade server to provide an ideal wire-once virtual machine environment that simplifies LAN and SAN connections, making server administrators self-sufficient. The result is a much more flexible, lower cost and faster way to set up, tune and move virtual server workloads and to add, replace and recover server blades across the Ethernet and FC networks easily.
