Vanderlande Industries receives order for new baggage handling system


Vanderlande Industries has been awarded the contract for a new baggage handling system for the new International Terminal at Zvartnots International Airport, located in Yerevan, Armenia.

The system will be installed in a new International Terminal, giving the airport the capacity to handle the increasing flow of passengers.

The contract includes the supply of a system with 52 check-in positions divided over 5 check-in islands, 3 take-away lines to the baggage room which is situated three floors down, two TRIPLANAR make-up carousels, integration of two x-ray machines, two TRIPLANAR arrival carousels, installation, commissioning, training and ramp-up support.

Armenia International Airports CJSC, responsible for the management of operations at the airport, committed itself to renovate and expand the airport in order for it to become a vital link for tourism and commerce between Asia and Europe, as well as to modernize its facilities and services.

As part of those commitments, renovation and expansion work began in 2004 and after the opening of a new terminal in 2007, another terminal will be built, housing the Vanderlande Industries baggage handling system.

The baggage handling project is scheduled for takeover in November 2011 and the terminal is planned to open in 2012. The total order value amounts to 3.5 million Euro.
