New Questions – New Answers

06.02.2012

Team warehouse logistics has been busy: More than 650 aspects of the more than 3000 criteria from the questionnaire have been updated and expanded for the upcoming validation round.

To ensure that the WMS database is always kept up to date, the questionnaire is revised on a regular basis to make sure that it takes into account the current market conditions and trends.

The WMS Database on warehouse-logistics.com is the largest portal in the world for comparing the functionality of Warehouse Management Systems. By participating in the database, WMS vendors have the opportunity to present their product to the world and have it validated by the unbiased Team warehouse logistics. After successful validation, the system is awarded a validation seal which has become a certification mark in the WMS industry. WMS users can use the WMS Online Selection tool to search the database using extensive search criteria to find the system that is the most suitable for their warehouse.

An extensive questionnaire that covers approximately 3000 aspects of a WMS is the basis of the validation process. As part of the recent work to update the questionnaire for the upcoming validation round, the team performed an extensive overhaul of the K.O. criteria that WMS users use to quickly preselect a suitable system using the free express version on warehouse-logistics.com. The user can now more finely specify the vendor and product types and this will make it possible in the future to compare multiple solutions from one vendor or exclude them from the analysis from the start. The section on order picking has been completely overhauled and the sections on batch and serial number management as well as best before dates have been modified and questions about the functional support for mobile control stations (for example, displaying relevant Key Performance Indicators or status reports) have been added.

Looking to the future, the updated questionnaire also contains questions about the innovative spirit of the WMS vendor and their assessment of logistical and technical trends such as Cloud Computing in logistics. To help ensure that the database continues to be effective, the questionnaire also asks WMS vendors about their use of the portal and the portal’s Content Management System.
