Optimized Delivery Process: BOOXpress Creates Added Value with inconsoTMS

09.05.2018

Transport service providers and book wholesalers rely on digital transport processes with IT solutions from inconso

BOOXpress GmbH, a fully owned subsidiary of the book wholesaler Libri, has realized a high level of automation in transport processing through the implementation of a new transport management system. BOOXpress plans and controls the delivery to stationary book retailers and various online bookstores with inconsoTMS, which is used to deliver to star-shaped transshipment points throughout Germany and Austria.

inconsoTMS, a transport management system developed by the software specialist inconso, meets all requirements for efficiently planning and controlling an extensive hub & spoke network via which more than two dozen transshipment points are supplied per night. These points are used for the regional distribution of the entire product range. The logistics center of the bookseller Libri has about one million different books in stock.

The solution, which has now successfully gone live, supports the transport service provider BOOXpress especially in planning, managing and controlling the trips for overnight delivery. A special feature is the differentiation between regular itineraries in fixed master routes, delivery routes and specific stops. With inconsoTMS, BOOXpress has a complete overview of the status of a single transport order and the entire transport network, which comprises about 480 vehicles.

Transport-specific booking processes were also optimized when the system was implemented. Here, inconsoTMS provides support, via a billing module, in invoicing transports and calculating BOOXpress services for clients such as Libri. Trip data can be transmitted to Libri in order to print receipts and labels so that customers can also be notified of status and deviations.
